I think it is an interesting design. I think it is great that people are trying to be environmentally friendly.

I really like the minimalist design and the lounge feel to it. Also the idea of using recycled building materials is great, too.

I think this is a great idea. I like the recycled materials. "Go Green" What I would like to know...would there be those nice hot beverages in the HOT HOT Summer?

If I found a bus stop with some good coffee I would go there all the time! I like the whole lounge idea and the glass doors.

This is awesome. I really like the simplicity of it. The drink dispenser is a great idea too...ive never seen a bus stop with one before.

I love it. But I would suggest having vending for snacks and soda.

Some nice ideas, but it needs to address, safety/escape through the doors, wheel chair and stroller accessibility and shade in the summer sun.

The Bus Lounge

Submitted by AAnderson on May 15, 2009

A minimalist design that provides style and function.

This bus stop will be a college students dream. With free wi-fi, temperature controlled seating area, power outlets for phone and laptop charging, and a coffee bar all powered by 100% renewable energy located on top of the structure, which is covered with solar panels.

The drink bar will be a dispenser of hot beverages like coffee, hot chocolate, and tea. You will have to provide your own mug because coffee cups cannot be recycled, and it will allow the person to just fill up and get on the bus.

There will also be a flat screen monitor mounted above the coffee bar, which has breaking new stories, weather, and the location of current buses along with the arrival times.

The outside perimeter glows green with energy efficient LED bulbs once the batteries have become charged from the solar panels during the day.

The sitting area is separated into two sections completely surrounded by a 2-inch thick 100% recycled acrylic sheets made from plastic bottles.

By providing a place that is comfortable out of the elements that provides coffee and news, this will encourage more people to use public transportation because it combines all the errands people do in the morning into one place, therefore cutting down on their carbon footprint.

This bus stop will become a modern “green” oasis.
