I would feel comfortable and safe waiting on bus transportation.

This design flows beautifully with the street side terrain. I'd feel safe from the weather, especially rain and wind and the accommodation for ventilation is ingenius!

Great design. Love the solar panels - very green. Has a warm feeling even with all the glass. The glass is great because it is both user friendly (looking for the bus) and also lends a safety factor (very visible).

The design considers the people waiting in all kinds of weather and the cleaver use of a clear glass for easy viewing and safety

The goal of this bus stop is to create a pleasant waiting environment that is fully sustainable. The structure itself is semi-enclosed and made almost entirely out of glass to allow for a clear view of approaching buses. The roof is made of semi-transparent solar panels that incorporate the University’s colors and adjust their opacity according to sun sensors. At the top and bottom of the walls there are temperature and wind activated semi-transparent solar powered louvers that open and close based on the amount of air flow needed. For hot days there are two solar powered ceiling fans for increased air circulation. Solar charged light fixtures are located on the on the ceiling to provide lighting at night. For convenience, there is an interactive display board located on the back wall to track the location of buses and message boards on either side. There are two centrally located seating pods within the structure as well as well as two benches that line the northeast and southwest interior walls and extend through the wall to create more seating on the exterior shaded by the extended roof. The roof also covers a bike rack located in the back. For more pleasant days there is a row of benches located adjacent to the building as well as two sets surrounding the base of trees for those who prefer shade.
