The design of this bus stop prototype for the Utah Transit Authority consists of a cantilevered bench and of a steel canopy, both supported by an angled structural concrete column. During rain and snow, operable panels slide open, doubling the size of the bus stop’s canopy, keeping pedestrians sheltered. The canopy also provides adequate shading during the morning and late afternoon hours when the sun is in the East and West. The hardscaping has been re-configured to accommodate the three steps that elevate the bus stop 18 inches from the ground.
