I've seen this one in person, and it's durable, spacious, solid, eye-catching, and made of steel. Very nice indeed!

This is located in the town where i live, Athens, Ga. I think it's gorgeous, and i love the color. It's like a flower growing in a gray area of ugly roads and nondescript buildings.

I've seen one of these in person. They are beautiful! They glow on an overcast day and seem to be an easy way for strangers to begin a discussion.

Blazberry Hwy. Bus Shelter

Submitted by dididunphy on September 19, 2009

Blazberry Hwy.

In thinking about, driving on, riding along, walking by, the ribbons of roads, ADD (Athens Design Development), presents Blazberry Hwy., a design proposal for the University of Utah Bus Shelter competition.

Blzsberry Hwy. Is one continuous ribbon of steel, rolled and curled into one shape incorporating seating, shelter, sculpture and graphic design. The main element of formed steel design includes “foot” to be bolted in to place.

Other than the main component of fluid metal, there is a lacey frieze of water-jet cut graphics inspired by and integrating abstractions of urban plans for parks and neighborhoods. The repeating pattern also mirrors the shape of the bus shelter Blazberry Hwy. design and the façade of the actual BUS vehicle. As the southern sun and Utah clouds pass overhead, the graphics will provide beautiful changing interior patterns and shadows.

And finally, the design’s namesake, Blasberry Chromolusion Auto Body Paint, a hybrid surface application. Blasberry reflects a multitude of hues beaming on the curved surface of the shelter design. The pigment at once is purple as an Iris, blue as the Sky and pink as a cherry. Blazberry Hwy. will provide an inspiring and striking place to wait on a warm or cool day. Blasberry Hwy. will shimmer in the sun and glow under a street light like a jewel on the side of the Utah’s roads.
