STOP TO MOVE
UTAH STATE experiences extreme climatic conditions ….
so what is “next” ?
next is sustaiable
next is free movement ’
next is self transforming
next is experience
next is better future??
so we pause for a moment and give ourself a time lapse …for a design that is transforming , developing.and thus gets
adapted to the surrounding and the mass around it..self transforming is the “buzz” word for a form were people
stop to move and change the direction and the way of movement..(mode of transport=bus)
the stop that is designed from utah ,for the people of utah..thus being a part of utah ..a form that evolves from
the surounding movements ..which are:-
1)the climate. (sustainable)
2)type of people (privileges)
3)orientation(open facade from where the bus arrives)
1)SUSTAINABLE TO CLIMATE
considering the extremely varying weather ,the design is made collapsible .
..a)the fabric shutters – the shutters are design to collect snow during the winter and water when it rains. The collectors collapse down by the weight
of the snow/water collected over it..thus protecting it from cold /rain…
when the water evaporates during spring /summer the fabric moves up(due to elastic coil) and thus providing good ventilation
during winter as the fabric encloses the bus stop, green house effect takes place where in the cool air enters from the bottom (cold air being heavy).
warm air created due to green house effect remain collected due to the CAP effect ,a smaller outlet is provided at the top (as a vent).
b)METAL panels- which are made from bus scrap reflecting the bus in the bus stop itself.
these panels are inclined over the main concrete structure in such a way that it collects the snow during winter which itself acts as an insulator.
also, these panels are not in total contact with the structure, so even if the metal gets heated up in summer, the heat is not transferred to the
internal environment.
c)solar panels-to provide energy to the privilege kiosk
2)A PRIVILEGE FOR THE PEOPLE.
a)considering the students and youth crowd , the privilege kiosk is prvided with mordern amminities such as
wifi, gps..etc
b)on the southern facade(entrance) there is a glass door (opening inside and outside convenient for handicap) ,
c)on the wesern facade when you slide the door to move out(exit) the movement is simple as the applied force is divided by the help of simple pulleys,
