the zombie bus stop could protect patrons in the future from real zombies
Posted Jul 10, 2009 10:07 PM by ren2001

what recycled material would you use to construct this?
Posted Jul 12, 2009 6:07 PM by rollin0219

by far the coolest and most original bus stop of the bunch
Posted Jul 12, 2009 9:07 PM by jimmy129

This is most unique one of the bunch
Posted Jul 13, 2009 9:07 AM by stuvette

This is so cool love your explanations
Posted Jul 13, 2009 9:07 AM by vking18

As zombies go, I think this one is particularly well reasoned and considered. Perhaps these zombie stops could be installed without prior notice, it would be interesting to see the faces of the commuters when they arrive on Monday morning to find their stop replaced by The Undead... They might be shocked but they'll appreciate the facilities :)

very ugly
Posted Jul 14, 2009 4:07 PM by apenman

I don't think zombies are suppose to be pretty are they?
Posted Jul 17, 2009 2:07 PM by vking18

very creative!
Posted Jul 17, 2009 4:07 PM by Critique

except it looks like it is taking up too much space, and blocking the paths of the students. Also, one of the fingers is blocking the path of the bus. There may be issues of the lack of headroom and accessibility.

Does the Zombie eat people? I bet verizon gets reception even in this Dead Zone ha ha yeah stupid joke. It's late and I'm bored.

But really who is ever going to build this? I can see it now...Welcome to the business loop of the University of Utah here is the bus stop...people would wonder what kind of school this really is.
Posted Jul 18, 2009 5:07 AM by jake1

its not a bus stop, its a cartoon of a zombie photoshopped onto a photo of a footpath, and it is a bit of an insult to all of the competitors who made a genuine effort

Very original design! This concept would actually cause interest in mass transit and attract people to use mass transit. This is genius. Not just another boring shelter. Being built of recycled materials and reuse of the rainwater is exactly what is being preached in the green movement that we are presently promoting. This will definitely help promote the use of mass transit which is what this is all about. Awesome!!

Very cool design! People will go out of their way just to say they used this bus stop. If selected, this will definitely become a top tourist attraction! Great for photos as well. Allen

I love zombies!!

This design is awesome! It is a very creative usage of space, and I love the eco-friendliness. I would like to ride the bus that goes along with this bus stop! Kudos to its creator!

I can not lie...pretty amazing...though thriller 24/7 would make me happy that I own an Ipod.
Posted Jul 21, 2009 4:07 PM by jarnold

it is different and interesting for many, but surely could give children the scare and older people a heart attack.
Posted Jul 24, 2009 9:07 AM by nigelmaj

Terrific--college students will appreciate
Posted Jul 25, 2009 12:07 AM by beallyallen

I don't understand why the zombie is green.
Posted Jul 25, 2009 2:07 PM by Hobgoblin

Are you serious? My small children would not even go near this.
Posted Jul 29, 2009 12:07 PM by ashellito

I would be too scared to wait for the bus and it's really gross, you can keep it at your house. >shivers<

I enjoy the parallel relationship the artist makes between people who ride the bus and zombies: they are nothing short of stupid, mindless, halfdead creatures with a proclivity for fattening food. But since the music selection was Michael Jackson, and not ROB ZOMBIE, I'll have to downgrade the design. Sorry, I really thought you were onto something.

tradarch, that's two comments of yours i have read now, and i have to say, your an idiot.
Posted Jul 30, 2009 2:07 PM by kavbar

The artist was clearly having fun and I was clearly playing along. But I see your bigotry and angry tongue has slobbered on every submission here. The only guy you have given a pass was the college student that efeminately went back to redesign according to your angry comments. I don't know who you are, but leave me alone. I think the competition is great and enjoy seeing new ideas, whether they are serious submissions or not.
Posted Jul 30, 2009 5:07 PM by tradarch kc

tradarch, my comment was a reaction to you referring to all public commuters as 'nothing short of stupid, mindless, halfdead creatures with a proclivity for fattening food'. i find it ironic that you would make a statement such as this and then call me bigotted. it was a silly thing to say. You question somebody for trying to improve themselves, and then congratulate someone for taking the piss. But that's your decision. im glad you enjoy this design, truly, but dont presume to call hundreds of millions of people that you have never met 'stupid, mindless, halfdead creatures with a proclivity for fattening food', and expect to be left alone. Im not angered by what you said, just disappointed.

Kavbar again does get it. I ride the bus, you pompous. This is not a serious submission. My comment was not a serious comment. Go away and get a life geek!
Posted Jul 31, 2009 4:07 PM by tradarch kc

I get it!

Perfect (maybe) for an amusement or theme park, not this site nor Salt Lake City.

So small children wouldn't be at this stop, right?
Posted Sep 24, 2009 3:09 PM by fhall

I like turtles.
Posted Sep 25, 2009 3:09 PM by n!nja

where's the seating? this is poorly thought out. fail.
Posted Sep 25, 2009 3:09 PM by devilsdance

if i take one positive out of this competition, its that i finished above this embodiment of immaturity. if you aren't going to take the competition seriously, why bother at all. if this is what you do for fun in your spare time gottim, you should get out of the house more.

“It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains.”
-Seth Grahame-Smith

Oh no! Not Zombies!

That’s right. The undead are rising and are hungry for brains and public transportation!

This rotting corpse has many attributes that make it more than just another spawn of Satan.

1. Ease of Use
-Visitors can sit inside the vile creature’s rotting head on one of the many “tooth” benches.
-The grasping fingers also serve as seating for when the weather is particularly nice.

2. Curb Appeal
-Believe it or not, but zombies are very concerned with their appearance. This zombie is no different.
-Complete with blood-spattering-from-last-brain-feasting detailing, the zombie’s putred colored skin is not only true to the undead, but it also blends nicely with the surrounding scenery.

3. Eco-Friendly
-It is a common fact that zombies care about the environment.
-This zombie is made almost entirely of recylced material.
-The “Radioactive Waste” barrels are actually rain barrels that collect rain water to irrigate the surrounding landscape. Perhaps this radioactive waste is what spawned this horrific creature?

4. Entertainment
-For your listening pleasure, a sound system is installed in the head and plays the zombie anthem “Thriller” by the late, great Michael Jackson 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
