the roof alone deserves a bit more credit. would look really cool lit up at night.seating is just a bit arbitrary, but still, ill absolutely give you some points for concept

Smart Bus Stop

Practical, environmentally friendly, unique, and iconic. Smart Bus Stop is an innovative bus stop designed to improve Salt Lake City’s public transit experience.

The seats and roof is inspired by designer sofas. The philosophy behind the form is to have the exterior design convey the comfort that the user experiences in the interior, promoting more people to use public transit.

The seating arrangement is based on the teepees traditionally used by the original inhabitants of Utah, the Ute tribe. The open, circular seating plan creates a sense of community for the city.

Tried and tested inflatable technology is used for the seats and roof. The form is cut by computer controlled CNC technology to give wrinkle free precision. Materials such as the Ferrari Precontraint 402 can be used as the skin. This material is made of fire retardant, UV stabilized material with high tenacity. The Texyloop process will make the skin completely recyclable, in order to benefit the environment. This technique also makes Smart Bus Stop one of the cheapest designs in the contest.

Solar cells can be placed on top of the roof when the smart bus stop is placed in areas exposed to the sun to further demonstrate Smart Bus Stop’s commitment to the environment. The solar cells will power the multi-colored lights that are placed inside the translucent skin, creating a beautiful effect at night.

A timetable is available for convenience, and there is a slot for advertisement in order to create a surplus in cash flow, allowing more bus stops to be built. The size of the Smart Bus Stop is modular and adjustable depending on the number of people using the bus stop at the specific site. To promote accessibility for all, the design is wheelchair accessible, includes multiple escape routes for safety, and includes remote infrared audible signage for the visually impaired. The design is minimalist, and all the other gadgets can be attached onto or placed near the bus stop if deemed necessary.
