Next Stop Design, a project of the University of Utah in cooperation with the Utah Transit Authority (“we”, or the “Website”), believes in the importance of openly sharing ideas to improve decision-making in government. We want to build a community that will improve public participation in transit planning. At the same time, we believe in mutual respect for the use of each other’s private information.
We gather/publish information from you on this Website in three primary ways:
1) Information entered by you during the registration process, some of which is published and some of which is private;
2) Information we gather indirectly about your activity on the Website; and
3) Information you publish through your own designs and ideas, and in comments on your own or others’ designs or ideas.
Your name, as entered during your registration on the site, is publicly available when you post designs or comments. All other information you enter during the registration process is known only to the researchers conducting this study.

All other personally identifiable information you enter during the registration process, such as your email address and birthdate, will be kept confidential, available only to the researchers for research purposes and to manage the Website. We comply with applicable laws and industry standards when transferring, receiving, and storing this information.
You may decline to provide your legal name when completing the registration process and may, instead, use a pseudonym. However, we encourage you to identify yourself as a means to create a strong reputation for yourself as part of the Next Stop Design community.
If you have any question about whether or not you should participate on this Website on the job, you should consult with your employer.
All your Activity on the Website (“Activity” may include, but is not limited to, the (1) number of designs, ideas, and comments posted, and (2) number and names of designs you have posted) will be collected by the researchers and used for research purposes. Data from this Activity may be made publicly available as part of the research and reporting process.
We may track and collect IP Addresses in order to ensure the security and integrity of the system. Access to IP Address information is limited to those who require the information to provide and manage the Website. We comply with applicable laws and industry standards when transferring, receiving, and storing this information. We collect information about how you arrive at the Website and your browsing habits while on the Website, such as length of time spent on the Website, what pages you view, and paths you take through the Website. We collect this information to assess the performance of the Website and for research purposes. Your browsing habits will not be made publicly available in a way that can personally identify you.
Information that you affirmatively post, such as designs, ideas, and comments, may be available for public viewing and archived.
In order to provide you the services of the Website, we may collect certain information about service performance, your machine and your service use. We may automatically upload this information from your machine. This data will not personally identify you.
